Payment terms

No person shall be deemed to have completed enrolment requirements for a course unless payment of all fees has been made and receipted. Fees are due in full at the time you register for a course.
All prices and transactions processed on this website are deemed to be effected in New Zealand and in New Zealand dollars only and, unless otherwise stated, include GST.
We accept payment via credit card or direct deposit only. If payment is made using a credit card issued outside New Zealand, any currency conversion will be done according to the terms and conditions of the card. There may be a current conversion fee charged by your card issuer. Credit card payments are processed through Stripe.

Refunds

If you are not able to attend the event you have enrolled for, a substitute delegate may take your place, when the person is eligible to enrol in this course in case prerequisites exist. Prior notice of this substitution is required. Refunds or transfers to an alternative date can only be given with at least ten business days’ notice before the date of the event. If you wish to cancel your registration a full refund, minus a $50 administrative fee, will be given provided you have notified us in writing (by receipted email or signed-for letter) at least ten business days before the start of the course. If less than ten business days’ notice of cancellation or transference is given then we regret that a refund cannot be given. Refunds will not be given in any other circumstances except as required by law. Passive House Academy New Zealand (PHANZ) reserves the right to cancel any event if minimum numbers are not reached or instructors are unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances (like illness, death). In such cases a full 100% refund of the amount paid shall be given. Similarly, PHANZ reserves the right to change the venue of an event with prior notice to everyone enrolled.

Pandemic related matters
Pandemic requirements may change entry requirements for courses, for example, a test or vaccine pass may become necessary to attend an education event. If you registered without knowledge of the requirement, e.g. when the requirement arose only after your registration, you are eligible for a full refund if you are unable or unwilling to comply with the requirement. It may also become necessary to cancel a course due to pandemic restrictions, in which case a full refund of the course fee will be issued on request.

Delivery 

Receipts of payment will be issued by Stripe. Separate invoices will be issued on request. Education events will be held at the dates and venues specified in the event announcement on our website.

Liability and copyright

Course material and all information on this and the course website is provided with our best efforts to provide accurate and authoritative information in regard to the subject matter covered. While reasonable care has been taken to provide accurate information, we make no warranty of any kind, expressed or implied, with regard to the information provided being suitable for any particular purpose. The information presented must be used with care by professionals who understand the implications of what they are doing. The author(s) and Passive House Academy New Zealand shall not be liable in the event of incidental or consequential damages in connection with, or arising from, the use of the information provided on this website or in any course. All courses are delivered to you under a limited, non-transferable, single-user license to access such course for your own use only. You are permitted to display, download, and print the files provided under the condition that such activity is for your personal or internal business purposes. You may not modify or prepare derivative works or otherwise re-distribute or publicly display the content.

Security of payment details

We do not store credit card information on our website or in our database. Your credit card details have the security offered by Stripe. No actual card data is held or used by us. You can find out more about the security offered by Stripe here: https://stripe.com/docs/security/stripe

Privacy Policy

In order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy Passive House Academy New Zealand (PHANZ) has created this privacy policy statement. PHANZ's privacy policy applies to anyone who visits our website. It explains how we may collect data from you when you visit our website and how we use that information. 
PHANZ collects information from you in three ways:
  • Via email
  • Via web technical logs
  • Via web forms
 We collect personal information from you, including information about your:
  • name

  • contact information

  • location

  • billing or purchase information

  • quiz results, homework

We collect your personal information in order to register you for courses on the online platform, bill you, provide you with course information and to let you participate in online learning.

Besides our staff, we share this information with services provider, in order to use the online platform and process payments. Providing some information such as a phone number is optional.

We keep your information for 1 year at which point we securely destroy it by deleting it from the service provider platforms.

PHANZ respects your privacy, any personal information that you volunteer will be treated in confidence, applying reasonable standards of security. Any information that you provide will not be made available to third parties except unless strictly necessary to provide the services you signed up for. 

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at study@phanz.ac.nz.

When you visit our website we may use cookies to help us deliver useful functionality.

What are cookies and how do we use them?

You can delete cookies stored on your computer or change your privacy settings at any time via your browser settings. PHANZ will assume that you agree to the placement of cookies on your device, unless you specifically choose not to receive our cookies, in which case the website functionality may differ. PHANZ uses Google Analytics to collect information about how you use our website.

Email
If you choose to contact PHANZ via email, your details will be used only for the purposes for which you intended. When your email has been actioned, the original message will be retained by PHANZ for a reasonable period of time. 

Registering for newsletter online
If you register for a PHANZ newsletter, your name and email address will be recorded. We use Mailchimp for this purpose. Find Mailchimp's privacy policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
You can opt out of receiving newsletters at any newsletter delivery.

Registering for courses online
If you register for a PHANZ course online, your details will be recorded. The service we use for this is Jotform, find Jotform's privacy policy here: https://www.jotform.com/privacy/
Information about payment security can be found in the Security section above. In addition to the records for payment purposes, your name, email and the course(s) you registered for will be recorded in our Moodle based online learning environment for the duration of the course(s). Any course activity you engage in, such as quizzes, workshops and so forth, will also be recorded. All your data will be deleted after a reasonable time following course completion.

Recording of online lectures
If you participate in a PHANZ online course that mentions recordings of lectures, your presence in the lecture and any interactions will be recorded. The service we use for the display of the recording is YouTube (unlisted video).
By registering for an online course, you consent to your presence in a course and any interaction being recorded, and the recording made available to other course participants. We encourage you to not use your full name on registering for the lecture, and switch off your camera in case you are uncomfortable with being recorded.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may modify this privacy policy at any time. We will notify you by publishing the changes on this website. If we determine the changes are material, you will be provided with additional, prominent notice as is appropriate under the circumstances, such as via email or in another conspicuous manner reasonably designed to notify you. If, after being informed of these changes, you do not cancel your course registration and continue to use our services beyond the advance-notice period, you will be considered as having expressly consented to the changes in the privacy policy.
